Cupola & Weathervane
This cupola and weathervane bring charm and personality to the coop while helping improve airflow and regulate temperature inside. They’re a thoughtful blend of function and style, adding both beauty and practicality to the design.
Watering System
This custom watering system filters rainwater and keeps fresh water flowing for several days without human intervention as long as the feed is stocked. It saves time, conserves water, and prevents standing water from turning moldy.
As the owner says, “It’s really well worth your money because of the rain barrel water collection, conserving water, and the ease of this system. You don’t have to be filling water buckets and worrying about mold and debris.”
Timber Frame Gable Porch
This porch was an aesthetic addition.
As the owner says, “We wanted to put a porch on the coop that was esthetically pleasing and nice to look at. It also matches another barn that we have on another part of the property. And we wanted to enjoy the view from the coop when we came out here to have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, or just to be with the chickens.”
6 Ft. Feed Room
The spacious feed room was designed with convenience in mind. Large feed bins hold up to two weeks’ worth of food, giving the team at Venture Farms the freedom to step away when business gets busy without worrying about their flock.
As the owner explains, “Venture Farms has been selling to boutique grocery stores throughout Baltimore County and Baltimore City for the last ten years, and we really wanted a system that would let us care for the chickens efficiently. With this setup, we don’t have to enter the coop to collect eggs, feed, or water.”
Roll Away Nesting Box
These enclosed nesting boxes with privacy curtains give the hens a calm, secure space to lay their eggs and keep them protected until collection. The design also makes it easy for Venture Farms 1918 to gather fresh eggs for the boutique grocery stores they supply throughout Baltimore County and City.
As the owner describes, “… We created our nesting boxes so that they’re at an angle, and the eggs roll down and are not accessible to the chickens after they lay them.”
